This year we have earmarked the funds raise to be donated to the Gift of Life International. We give a very big thank you to Captain Lawrence Brewing Company for their assistance in organizing the event and donating to our club a major portion of the funds received from the sale of the 4-packs. We also thank all who participated or donated to the event.
Captain Lawrence was started by Scott Vaccaro. Scott entered the world of brewing by testing it out on a stovetop at home at the age of 17. With his parents' blessing, he started learning how to brew and began a lifelong infatuation with fermentation. Scott essentially pioneered craft brewing in the Hudson Valley when he founded Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in 2006. Why the name Captain Lawrence? That’s the street where Scott lived named after Captain Samuel Lawrence, who served as a militiaman during the Revolutionary War. Captain Lawrence boasts the title of largest among the 63 breweries now located in the Hudson Valley.
Rotarian Henry Leyva was a great host, raising his glass many times to salute Rotary and take a sip of the Captain Lawrence Classic Lager, Hop Commander IPA, Jam Juice Hazy IPA and the Orbital Tilt Hazy IPA.
According to John Garrity, Virtually Fermented was one of the more successful virtual fundraising events he has held.
