Our Holiday Fruit Sale Was a Big Success!

The results are in from our 2020 Holiday Fruit Sale - "Fruit for Thought", benefitting the Community Scholarship Fund of Pleasantville.  We sold 300 cases of fruit - about 100 more than last year!  This will net over $4,200 for our Club to donate to the Community Scholarship Fund.

The generosity didn't end there.  In addition to the funds raised for the Community Scholarship Fund, 38 cases of fruit were donated to Feeding Westchester.  There are so many more people these days who ae suffering from food insecurity, this contribution will be welcome.

For anyone who ordered fruit, we expect delivery sometime during the week of December 14.  We will be in touch with you about delivery of any fruit you ordered.  Thank you to all who participated.

A Blast from the Past, the Way Past
We recently received a copy of this photo from the Town Historian for Mt. Pleasant, Jim Maxwell.  We don't know the date of the photo, but it must have been from the very early days of our club (we were founded in 1924).  Membership was robust then, there are 40 gentlemen in the photo.
Pleasantville Athletics Donation
The Rotary Club of Pleasantville received a donation of $1,200.00 from Pleasantville High School Athletics Department, presented to us by Athletic Director, John Bauerlein and Acting Director of Special Education, Don Iorio.  When the pandemic hit John and Don sold Pleasantville HS Panther apparel online with the intent of using the profits for a worthy cause.  Our Club will in turn donate this money to the Gullotta House, a nonprofit that provides food vouchers and other aid to residents of Westchester County who are facing financial or other hardships.

Meeting with Mary Shackelton at Our First In-Person Meeting since March

We a wonderful face-to-face outside meeting on September, the first since March.  It gave us an ideal opportunity to invite District Governor Mary Shackelton to meet with us.  Mary brought with her Assistant District Governor, Donald Rizzo.  The District’s theme this year is ROTARY OPENS OPPORTUNITIES.  Mary’s on-line learning opportunities are relevant, informative and helpful in keeping our own Clubs up and running during this sheltered period.  They are doing a fantastic job of getting the word out about what’s happening in Rotary.  Members expressed their appreciation to Mary for her service to Rotary and our District.

About Pleasantville

The Pleasantville Rotary Club, established in 1924, is one of the older clubs in the area and is comprised of men and women representing local community businesses, professionals and occupations.

Our club has approximately 23 members and is very active in the District. The club meets once a week to take advantage of the opportunity for Rotary fellowship. It provides the occasion to meet with fellow members as well as meet with visitors you have not known before. Warm and personal friendship is the corner-stone of every great Rotary club. The Rotary Club of Pleasantville is dedicated to the fundamental Rotary ideals.
